Established as a 501(c)3 in 1990 by a small group of concerned community leaders in order to eliminate barriers to higher education. LEAF provides information, inspiration, and motivation for students to navigate the education process beyond high school.
LEAF provides services to Northeast Ohio residents and families that are interested in career technical programs, community college, and four-year collegs and universities.



LEAF Scholarship Opportunities
LEAF has several opportunities for scholarships to students seeking education beyond high school. Check out our scholarships listed below to see if you qualify.
LEAF Administered Scholarships

ABB Engineering
ABB Engineering Scholarship is a scholarship for students planning to major in one of the following courses of study: Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Software Development/Design. Must be a US citizen or eligible noncitizen graduating from a Lake, Geauga, or Cuyahoga County High School. Minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Applicant must be attending a 4-year college/university in the State of Ohio with a preference given to applicants attending the University of Akron, University of Cincinnati, Cleveland State University, Youngstown State University, University of Toledo, Case Western Reserve University, or The Ohio State University.

The Frank J. Feola, Ph.D. family has started this scholarship in Frank’s name. They want to honor his dedication to helping others have opportunities to achieve. They want to share his story of courage, strength, and faith in the face of overwhelming challenges. Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen, Show FAFSA document with Family Contribution, a graduating senior from Lake, Geauga, or Cuyahoga County High School, or homeschooled. Have a minimum GPA of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Applicant must be enrolled in a 2 or 4-year accredited institution or accredited vocational/technical school. In person interview required.
Scholarship $500 each academic year for 4 years
The Harriet B. Storrs Fund Scholarship is open to students who reside in Painesville City or Township, have a mailing zip code of 44077, and be a graduating senior from any high school. Applicant must be working toward an associate’s or bachelor’s degree, have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and a minimum ACT score of 16. Household taxable income must not exceed $60k or AGI must not exceed 60k or be Pell eligible. Applicant must also be accepted at an accredited post-secondary school other than Lakeland Community College or Lake Erie College and must attend at least half-time during the academic year to be eligible.
Scholarship based on need up to $3,500 for 1 year
The Harriet B. Storrs Renewable Scholarship is a scholarship for previous recipients of the Harriet B. Storrs Scholarship. The applicant must be working toward an associates’ degree or a bachelor’s degree. Students must meet a minimum grade point average of 2.5, be attending an accredited post-secondary school other than Lakeland Community College or Lake Erie College, and must be attending at least half-time the academic year to be eligible.
Scholarship based on need up to $3,500 each year for 5 years
The Lakeland Area Counselors Association Scholarship is for a US citizen or eligible noncitizen. Applicant must be a graduating senior from an Ashtabula, Lake, or Geauga County High School with a current LACA member employed by the school district (check with your school counselor). To apply you must also have a minimum GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) and be enrolling in a certificate program, technical/vocational college, or 2 or 4-year institution in the 2024-2025 academic school year.

The Marous Brothers Construction Scholarship is for US citizens or eligible noncitizens, graduating seniors from Lake County, majoring in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Structural Engineering, and Construction Engineering, Architecture, etc.

The Vincent L. Petro Scholarship is for graduating seniors from Mentor High School who reside in Lake County, have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and are enrolled full-time in a 2 or 4-year accredited institutional or an accredited vocational/technical school.
Scholarship $750
Western Reserve Junior Service League Adult Scholarship is for Female US citizens who reside in Lake, Geauga, or Ashtabula County. Applicant must be 25 years of age or over by June 1. Applicant must have experienced interruption post high school education. Enrolled in an accredited institution for the next term at least part-time and working toward one of the following: Associate Degree or First Bachelor’s Degree. Minimum GPA of 3.0 (if currently in school) and demonstrate financial need.
Scholarship $1,000
Willis E. Kelly Music Scholarship is for residents of Geauga County for a minimum of two years and attended school (at any grade level) for a minimum of two years at a Geauga County School. Must be attending an accredited 2 or 4-year college/university. Provide evidence of commitment to the pursuit of a musical education. Must demonstrate financial need and have significant leadership potential and willingness to contribute time and talent to the community. Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.0.
Scholarship $1,000
The Willoughby South High School Alumni Scholarship will be awarded to a student who has been dedicated to enriching the community of South High School as demonstrated by their school-based activities and service. Must be a graduating senior from Willoughby South High School, Cumulative GPA of 3.0, participated in at least two extracurricular activities per year while in high school, and performed 10 community service hours during your junior and senior years. Applicant must be enrolled full-time in an accredited 2 or 4-year college or university, trade or technical school.
