Harriet B. Storrs First-Time Scholarship

Scholarships open to graduating seniors who reside within Painesville City or Township OR have a mailing zip code of 44077 and are working toward an associate or bachelor's degree. The student's household income criteria: Taxable Income must not exceed $60,000, Adjusted Gross Income must not exceed $60,000,or the student must be Pell-eligible. The student must be accepted at an accredited postsecondary school other than Lakeland Community College or Lake Erie College* and must attend at least half-time during the academic year to be eligible. Minimum GPA: 2.5.

Qualifications:

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
1. The applicant must reside within Painesville City or Township OR have a mailing zip code of 44077 and be a graduating senior from any high school*.

2. The applicant must be working toward an associate or bachelor’s degree.

3. Students must meet minimum grade point average of 2.5

4. The household income criteria: Taxable Income must not exceed $60,000 (Line 43 on the 2023 1040 form) or Adjusted Gross Income must not exceed $60,000 (Line 37 on the 2023 1040 form/Line 21 on 1040A form) or be Pell-eligible.

5. Student must be accepted at an accredited postsecondary school other than Lakeland Community College or Lake Erie College* and must attend at least half-time during the academic year to be eligible.

SELECTION GUIDELINES:
1. All scholarships awarded will be payable to the school.

2. All decisions are final and not subject to additional review or appeal.

3. Awards are to be used for the upcoming academic year or forfeited. Receipt of a Storrs Scholarship for any term or year does not guarantee receipt of a Storrs Scholarship grant monies in any additional term or year.

4. Students will be expected to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress, as determined by the terms of this scholarship, while receiving the Storrs Scholarship.

5. SAI from FAFSA 25.

6. It is your obligation to notify the LEAF Office of any changes in the information you have provided on this application.

DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED: (1) Harriet B. Storrs Scholarship Application, completed and signed, (2) Official Transcript, showing grade 12 courses, (3) Copy of all SAI from FAFSA 25, (4) Official Financial Aid Award Notification from the college/school you will be attending, (5) Letter of recommendation, and (6) Essay.

Your application and documentation must be completed no later than Friday, March 28, 2025.

Lake/Geauga Educational Assistance Foundation (LEAF) administers this scholarship. LEAF representatives, not associated with the Harriet B. Storrs Scholarship, will select the recipient(s) to ensure objectivity and confidentiality. All applicants are notified by email. The selection process may take several weeks.
