THE 2026 APPLICATION HAS CLOSED. Scholarships for Ohio students preparing to enter freshman year of college who are either a veteran or a direct descendant of an honorably discharged veteran.

Qualifications:

The applicant must:
* Be (1)an honorably discharged veteran or (2) a son or daughter (adopted, step, grand, or great-grand) of a living, deceased, or disabled honorably discharged veteran who served during these active war dates: (1) April 6, 1917 – Nov. 11, 1918 or (2) Dec. 7, 1941 – current.

* Be preparing to enter his/her freshman year of college.

* Be a resident of Ohio or a member of an Ohio American Legion Auxiliary Unit.

* Be sponsored by an Ohio American Legion Auxiliary Unit.

Selection criteria: 1—Americanism, 2—Character, 3—Financial Need, 4—Leadership, 5—Academics.

Award Amount:
$1000 & $1500
