AFL-CIO Local Union No. 894 Scholarship

Local Union 894

Ten scholarships for dependents of full-time active members of Local Union No. 894 who were in good standing for two years as of January 1, 2025. Open to high school seniors planning to enroll in a fully accredited four-year college or university, two-year community college or vocational/technical school upon high school graduation in 2025, as well as current dependent college undergraduates.

Qualifications:

Applicant must:
– Be a dependent of members of Laborers’ Local No. 894 who are working at the calling and who have been in good standing for two years as of January 1, 2025. Dependents of Laborers’ Local 894 union officers and staff are not eligible. A “dependent” is any child/step-child of a Local 894 laborer for which you have legal custody and is listed as a dependent under Ohio Laborers’ Fringe Benefit Programs.

– Be a high school senior or college undergraduate with a minimum 2.5 GPA.

– Intend to enroll full-time at an accredited two- or four-year public or private not-for-profit college or university

Scholarships will be awarded based on the applicant’s scholastic record, results of college admittance tests, i.e., ACT or SAT, and recommendations from individuals familiar with the applicant (not family). Financial need will not be a consideration.
