Lyle B. Wright Scholarship

APPLICATION CLOSED FOR 2024. CHECK BACK IN FALL OF 2025 FOR '25 APPLICATION .Lyle B. Wright was a strong public power advocate on both state and local levels. He served on the boards of both American Municipal Power-Ohio Inc. and the Ohio Municipal Electric Association. The scholarship was created and named in his honor in 1989.

This one-time scholarship award of $3,000 is presented to as many as five students annually.

Qualifications:

Awards are based on essay, GPA, personal achievements, personal interview and knowledge of public power.

Nominee must be a student whose household (the student currently resides in) receives electricity from an AMP member community.
Nominee must be a graduating senior who has met all the basic requirements for college or technical school entrance and has a cumulative, unweighted grade-point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.
A student is not eligible if they or a parent or guardian is an employee of AMP or an AMP member who:
Works directly for, or provides management or leadership of, the electric utility, electric utility department, or joint action agency; or
Spends at least 30% of their time directly supporting electric utility operations.
