THE 2026 APPLICATION HAS CLOSED. Scholarship open to all graduating seniors who at minimum: Attended two years at any Lake County high school, resides in Lake County for two years, or whose parent/guardian participated in the RMMS Golf Outing for two years. A minimum of 150 community service hours is required to be considered.
Rita left behind her legacy of service after succumbing to a lengthy battle with breast cancer. To honor her, the Rita Matteo Memorial Scholarship was established in 1988 by the school PTO she served. The scholarship strives to recognize students who reflect the character and spirit of Rita with their dedication to community service. In 2008 the Matteo family assumed sponsorship of the scholarship and established the Rita Matteo Memorial Scholarship board. To date, over 100 students have been awarded this honor.
In 2025, The Rita Matteo Memorial Scholarship Board has allocated funds to award scholarships up to $20,000.00.

Qualifications:
Applicant must:
– Be a graduating high school seniors
– Have (1) attended at least two years at any Lake County high school OR (2) Resided in Lake County for a minimum of two years, OR (3) have a parent/Guardian who participated in the Rita Matteo Memorial Scholarship golf outing for two years.
– Have a minimum of 150 community service hours
Applicants are judged on commitment and dedication to community service, character, responsibility, and academic achievement.
