DONATE TO LEAF

Your generous support of LEAF will allow us continue our important work of guiding the next generation of learners as they plan for their future. Donations to LEAF will be used to help fund our Resource Center, virtual information session programming, publication development, scholarship database maintenance, and more.

LEAF is a 501(c)(3) organization (EIN 34-1640416). Donors can deduct their donations to LEAF on their tax returns as permitted by law.

OTHER WAYS TO DONATE

Cash or Check Donation

Cash or check donations can be mailed directly to LEAF at:

7700 Clocktower Drive,  C-2048, Kirtland, OH 44094

LEAF will follow up with a letter documenting your gift.

Stock Donation

The stock market has allowed many to hold appreciated stocks. This gift records the actual amount at the time of transfer.  To begin a stock transfer, contact LEAF’s executive director, at 216.408.2335, to receive instructions on where to send the stock.  Once the stock is received, the broker will provide a value of the stock and you will receive a letter from LEAF documenting the stock, the number of shares, and the value at the time of transfer.

Bequest

Putting LEAF in your will is another way to provide support. It requires the gift to be spelled out in your will.
A sample of what to say is:

I hereby give, devise and bequeath to Lake/Geauga Educational Assistance Foundation (LEAF) the sum of $ ___  or  ___  percent (%) of the estate or residue of my estate to be used by LEAF for its unrestricted purposes.

Employer Match

If your employer provides a match for your gift, please advise LEAF and we will provide the necessary documentation. In many cases, this will double your gift or match up to a specific amount.

Donor-Advised Fund

If you have a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF), you can seamlessly make a gift to LEAF by processing the appropriate paperwork with your provider. It is important to advise LEAF that you are making a gift with your DAF so that we can look for it and apply it appropriately.  You will receive an acknowledgment of your gift.

Recurring Gifts

These gifts are made on a monthly basis, with the same amount, charged to your credit/debit card.
You may start or stop this at any time.

Gift with IRA, Pension or Other Plans

IRA owners age 70½ or over have the option to transfer up to $100,000 to charity tax-free each year. These transfers, known as qualified charitable distributions (QCDs), offer eligible older Americans a great way to easily give to charity. For those who are at least 72, QCDs count toward the IRA owner’s required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year (as stated on the IRS website).

The provider of your IRA will work with you to create the documents necessary to make this transfer, which is tax deductible. The payment is made from your IRA directly to the non-profit organization, without claiming it for income.

Planned Gifts

This gift is made from an estate plan, annuity, or other financial methods that typically will involve your financial manager.

Life Insurance Beneficiary Designation

If you are a holder of a life insurance policy, you can designate LEAF as the only or partial beneficiary of the policy.  If the policy is shared with other beneficiaries, it will be necessary to identify a percentage of a specific amount for LEAF. This is an easy way to provide a gift to the organization without accessing your operating funds.

Memorials/Tributes

A gift in honor of a loved one is a wonderful way to provide a tribute for a special occasion, special birthday, or other reason. A memorial will remember a loved one who has died and an obituary sometimes mentions an organization as a recipient of gifts in the deceased’s honor.
